It's become a form of mind control and group think. I think the best way to get political information is through your local newspaper. Let's bring honest Journalism back.

@Lostpoet do you still have a local newspaper? Do you actually still read a printed paper at all?
Lostpoet · M
@samueltyler2 Sometimes, very rarely, but when I have the money and I'm in a gastation that actually does still carry the News then yeah I'll pick up a copy. I like using a pen 🖊️ and marking up the articles it's the only way I can remember what I read. I sometimes read the online version of the local news, but I'm really not into politics. I don't think the average guy has a voice anymore. Big corporations control what's heard and they can cancel anyone they don't like.

@Lostpoet you seem to be taking a defeatist approach. If everyone ignores politics, ignores the news, of course you have no voice. You have several ways to voice your opinion, the ultimate, though, is at the ultimate polling place, elections! Big corporations are where they are because of the composite of little guys. There is no conspiracy to keep you ignorant or to prevent you from getting what you need, the CEOs respond to their shareholders, and thus the shareholders have the say.

@samueltyler2 That is true but I also come from a generation that views anyone in power as being naturally corrupt and there is really no right or wrong in politics.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Lostpoet I don't think there is a specific generation that believes that. I cannot speak for my generation, whatever that even means. I don't know what you imply when you say there is no right and wrong. There are laws, if you break the law, then you are wrong.

@samueltyler2 I mean it doesn't matter if it's the left or right in power they are going to behave in the same way and they are going to protect the rights of people in power and of influence over the rest of the country and that it has always been there is no such thing as fair and justice.

@Lostpoet our country was established as a representative democratic republic, meaning we vote for those who develop laws that are intended to provide for activities that are useful to the citizens. Your vote for those representatives is critical to set the direction of governance. If you choose to give up on government, and don't vote, you leave all the decisions to others.

@samueltyler2 Truth, I just don't believe that the people in the system actually stand for that ideal anymore. Maybe I need to try harder and give politics another chance.

@Lostpoet you need to get active! Call you representatives, local, state and federal. As a constituent, make an appointment and talk to them!
