Deadly Shootout Between Car Owner and Thief

"A parking lot turned into a lethal encounter on Thursday afternoon at South Park Mall, San Antonio, Texas, July 27, when a man and his passenger left the mall around 1 pm to find their Ford truck stolen.

Unwilling to let their vehicle go, they located it in another parking lot within the mall premises, with a man and a woman inside.

In an assertive response, the owner of the truck held the suspects at gunpoint while waiting for the police to arrive. But the confrontation escalated when the alleged car thief pulled out a handgun and shot the vehicle’s owner. The owner returned fire, hitting both suspects. The male thief was pronounced dead at the scene, while the vehicle’s owner and the female suspect were taken to a local hospital in critical and stable condition, respectively.

The event was described as a self-defense case by San Antonio Police Chief William McManus, stating that the truck’s owner was within his rights to track down his stolen property, but he advised citizens to call the police before taking such matters into their own hands. Photos from the scene showed the injured female suspect being aided by officers, with blood flowing down her leg. The dead thief was found face-down in the parking lot.

The deceased suspect’s brother, Jose Garcia, cast doubts on the vehicle owner’s supposed right to chase and kill his brother. He censured the shooter for acting like a vigilante and emphasized the importance of leaving these situations to the police."

@Gloomy Imagine if the dead perp had not stolen the truck in the first place....

@sunsporter1649 He shouldn't have but do you rather live in a civilization where the police arrests a person and then follows a trial or do you prefer lynch justice and random people playing cops?

@Gloomy held at gun point is different than being shot at.
If the guy wasn't guilty he should have just sit and waited on the cops insted of trying to kill the guy.
Gloomy · F
@sunsporter1649 So you think theft deserves capital punishment?
Gloomy · F
@Virgo79 Not really only americans would make this distinction

@sunsporter1649 Yeah I get it you like to mock people who make bad decisions and die just like you mocked teenagers dying in accidents.
You are a piece of garbage and a pathetic excuse of a human being.

@Gloomy I feel the same way about the Darwin awards. Each one of those people were human beings who made mistakes....sounds a lot like the people who make fun of them. It strikes a nerve with me.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@originnone The perps made two mistakes, stealing a truck, and being slow on the draw
originnone · 61-69, M
@sunsporter1649 and each has someone who loves them and was devastated, at least I hope so. You and I are going to die too, and, for me, I don't care if it's in a smart way.

@sunsporter1649 Do you have another cliche' you repeat or just that one?
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
@Gloomy no, but i think being shot sure the hell does.
You can lay and die if you want but ill fight back
