They voted for what specifically?
Are you referring to their new mayor and his ideas for reducing crime? Did you prefer Lori (the previous mayor) instead?

Because no one voted for death.

@Scribbles Where is the increased police protection?

@sunsporter1649 We went to Chicago a little for memorial weekend. There was very much an increased presence of police and bag checks (as promised)... were being done along the public area where we were.

I don't understand how you can realistically expect 100 percent police coverage of the entirety of Chicago. I personally was thrilled there was no mass shootings. I was expecting that tbh.

There is going to be shootings and car jackings, etc unfortunetly. It can't be immediately stopped because a new mayor was voted in. The problem is bigger then that.

He's sort of got the police union backing him which helps. I'm of the opinion to give this mayor a fair chance. He seems like he might be better at playing politics, making deals and networking then Lori was (she wasn't great at it). So hopefully even more can be done to help

@Scribbles As an experiment, go to Comiskey Park, head west, and see how long you last

@sunsporter1649 I'm only reporting with what I physically saw. If you want details on specifics of what is being implemented in the southwest side of Chicago, perhaps consider contacting the appropriate personnel for that. I do not live in Chicago and I am not your personal private fucking detective. So don't go lashing out at me.

I am deeply saddened by violence in Chicago. I can tell you are too.
Did you lose someone close to you to gun violence?
I have.
Keep advocating for positive change to make Chicago safer and help all neighborhoods to thrive.
Push people to make it a high priority and take it seriously. I do.
It's going to take time and a lot of effort by everyone and money.

I want to help this effort. There's no point in infighting, when we all just want safe neighborhoods. :/

@Scribbles Then you better start voting Republican
Scribbles · 36-40, F
@sunsporter1649 I would consider voting Republican if I could be convinced their plan is better and would work.

As it stands, I've not been convinced.

I will still be fully supporting programs that have already helped prevent crime in key neighborhood with some of the worst crime, in my own way.

I think the best plan would be a plan down the middle somewhere to deal with gun violence and all the car jackings. Idk
