Apple To Move iPhone Assembly Out Of China

As reported by the WSJ over the weekend, Apple has been hit with iPhone supply chain issues, related to the draconian measures put in place by Xi Jinping.

Xi, has been steadily moving away from the primary contract, put in place by the late Jiang Zemin (passed away last week): give up your personal freedoms, in return for chicken in every pot, healthcare, dental care, vision care, etc.

Apple has been notifying its suppliers, that assembly will be moving to locations in India and Vietnam.

Samsung began moving their production out of China a few years ago. Want cheap? China isn't so alluring anymore.

Didn't Donald Trump try to force them to do that while he was president? I don't like saying positive things about the man, but that's one of the things he tried to do that I agreed with.

This is not really what happened. US Presidents have no influence on what private companies do.

Trump, huffed and puffed, and said that he knows how to brung manufacturing back to the US. His solution? give companies the largest tax break in their corporate history.

For Apple, it meant tens of $Bs in money they had parked overseas, that flowed back to the US.

How much effort did they put in moving manufacturing back to the US? Zilch, null, nada.

But his supporters still think he wanted to move manufacturing to the US. Corporations used the money to buy back stock, propping up corporate executive pay. Exactly what the Democrats said was going to happen. Another variation on trickle down economics.

@Northwest Oh. Of course it comes back to the rich trickling down on the rest of us.
