Is Democracy in the US over in a week?

Will the Republicans win and make it harder for Democrats to vote in 2024. Make it impossible to have a free and fair election?
Harder maybe. Let's not get into hyperbole with impossible, please.

Plenty of Republicans can and do rationally argue that it's too easy to vote, e.g., voter ID laws, and I don't see a solution to D'Souza and folks buying crap like Pelosi's attack being a false flag thing or a homosexual encounter gone bad happening overnight.

We're not going to completely stop voter intimidation or disqualification any more then we're going to completely prevent "fraudulent" voting.

I think they're both admirable goals, but in practice, not every single good vote will ever be counted, nor will every single bad one be weeded out.
@Pitchblue I think it is more realistic.

Keep in mind, they'll still probably say you're speculating about what they will do in the future based on what they've done in the past, and still bring up Hillary, Abrams and Gore.

But at least, you've kept a better grip on the high ground without saying they want to stop voting entirely.

I don't really see any support for that, even with the whole independent legislature thing and making actual votes irrelevant.
@MistyCee The Democrats pass bills to protect voting. The Republicans either garbage them at the Senate level or vote against protection for voting unanimously.
@Pitchblue That's better, imo.
with voter ID ?? like they use in India, Mexico and many other countries.
@YourMomsSecretCrush With gerrymandering, suppression, vote harvesting, changing the electors and outright fraud. Republican States are making new laws to suppress Democrat voters every day. They are even taking their voting stations away. They want to change the result of elections after the election has been run.
@Pitchblue we have seen members of both parties guilty of voter fraud, thats not a republican or a democrat thing, thats just dirty business. and if someone is convicted of it, regardless of party, they should spend twenty years at least in prison. in North Carolina several years ago, they created voting districts to all but guarantee black representatives, that was accomplished, but, the downfall of that was it also shifted the balance of seats to republicans.

This country has never been a Democracy and was never intended to be. It is government by the wealthy for the wealthy. Our Founding Fathers were a bunch of rich white guys, some of them slaveowners, who didn't want to pay their taxes. Sound familiar?
@hunkalove The Republicans want to go back to the feudal system.

@Pitchblue I think they are more inspired by Hitler. They don't seem to understand fear and hate don't work. Hitler's thousand-year reich lasted 12 years and millions of people died.
@hunkalove The certainly align with Putin.

Democracy? Free and fair elctions.. That ship sailed Mister...😷

Yes, for all practical intents and purposes. The GOP adopted a platform of "If I lose, then the elections are not legitimate, but if we win, it's all cool". This position is incompatible with democracy. It's also not a fringe MAGA issue. Only a minority of GOP candidates do not fit into this group.
@Northwest They will win at any cost. Fraud, change electors. They have Governors who can minipulate the election. Like Kemp who purged thousands of votes in his own election. They have their people in election offices. I think it's a done deal. Democrats will lose this midterm and the Republicans will change voting laws.
Turn off your TV 😂😂😂

Let’s see how responsible Republicans vote
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Strictmichael75 You mean responsible Republicans are supposed to vote for abandoning American citizens, open borders, higher crime, more fentanyl, illegal aliens voting, 13% inflation, racist rocks, no heating oil, no diesel fuel, $5.00 a gallon gas, no bail, and empty shelves at the grocery store? Good luck with that
@sunsporter1649 Wow! You should work for Newsmax.

@Pitchblue Truth hurts, eh?
Yeah, voter ID us a horrible thing.
@TallMtnMedic You are totally vacant to think this election is about voter ID.
@Pitchblue Actually using your premise, youre totally vacant if you think Republicans will end democracy.
@TallMtnMedic Republicans have been saying Democracy is not sustainable, they want to cut Medicare, Social Security and Obamacare. So what happens to the people dependant on those programs?

I hope not, I’m trying to be hopeful but it’s scary.
@sunsporter1649 That's pretty poignant, and almost seems like ammunition for "fighting fire with fire."
