It's a pretty blatant and relatively bold political stunt, but if you think about it, it's a hell of a wedge to drive between libertarians, conservatives, and puts Trumpists in a really difficult spot.

@MistyCee it was a skilled move.

A great move, there are tons of MAGA pot heads, do they really want to stay loyal to their crooked dealers? This is in the direction of getting legal weed everywhere and a great step.
@BackyardShaman The taxes would certainly help some of the poorer States. Police Unions and Prison Unions lobby heavily in favor of keeping marijuana illegal. Especially in For Profit Prison States.

Not quite, he only pardoned those of citizens. He didn't pardon noncitizens, and it's apparently a deportable offense.

With the way red states are losing their minds. Would not be surprised it they start talking about public hangings for having a joint. Rational responses haven't been a thing in the GOP for years at this point.
What makes this particularly stupid is you can get high on stuff in your fucking spice rack. But somehow everyone is freaking out over a single plant.

"Leaves it up to the states"? He had no choice, a President can only pardon Federal crimes. Makes total sense to pardon people whose only crime was possession; also saves the taxpayers millions because we no longer have to pay for the prisoners' food and upkeep.

I think we all know the red states are going to do the exact opposite of what he wants them to. That's literally the entirety of the Republican platform at this point. Do the opposite of what Biden wants.
