I was immediately tempted to call BS on this comment - but then I googled it and dammit if you aren't correct about the water shortage...
Mississippi today news article points out it has been an ongoing problem for a period of time - and while I suspect both GOP and Democrats were in power as the problems started/worsened...
"The city is faced with two colliding but distinct funding problems: One, the city’s infrastructure is only getting older and past administrations did not plan for inevitable future capital investments, as is true in many aging cities. Two, the loss of customer base and pervasive billing troubles have left the water department without a feasible revenue model for regular operations and maintenance."
so it has been a failure to create a reserve for replacing worn out facilities as well as a 20% reduction in the population since the 1980s.
hell's bells...plenty of blame to go around - but the question is will the feds come in and do more than pass out water?
they need a whole lot more - or it will be a ghost town

The inadequacy of the GOP is ruining this state. Republicans continuously oppose infrastructure upgrades, despite the state being granted the money to do so. They’d rather focus on lining their own pockets and strip rights from others than make sure people have drinkable water. @Pretzel

@Imsleepy again, another thing I was going to call BS on - and then looked it up
repub gov
repub controlled legislature
one thing I will say is that MS has always been a poor state regardless of the corrupt party that is in charge (sorry I think all politicians are either in it for their own interests or will be given enough time)
they can't manufacture money - and unless they can bring in good paying jobs and increase property taxes they won't have the tax dollars to fund the state.
a lot of factors going into this - I truly feel sad for the people in MS that can't get out
it's like Detroit after the car companies pulled out

Republican run state, they caused their own problems, let them fix it without any federal aid.

@independentone Republicans are why people can't have nice things. Except for the 1%.

Aside from the coast, this state is an absolute shithole, especially Jackson.

This is the predictable result of a failure to maintain critical infrastructure. The problem is exacerbated in low-tax states, mostly in the South. We are going to see more of this in the future without adequate planning now. The Build Back Better bill that Republicans wouldn't support had a significant amount of funding for clean water issues.

So you think Mayor Lumumba is a Republican?
They're having terrible floods too.
