Awkward Moment

On Tuesday, as part of a visit to Germany, the President of the PA (Palestinian Authority), Mahmoud Abbas, was doing a press conference with the German Chancellor.

At one point, a reporter asked Abbas if he's going to apologize for the Munich Olympics Massacre, and his response include the following: "Israel committed 50 holocausts".

The press conference was but immediately short, with the German Chancellor making a hasty exit, then on Wednesday, his office expressed disgust over the casual use of the term Holocaust and 50 times, when it's a singularity. Abbas's office also issued a statement that expressed the same feeling, but without an outright apology.

Germany is preparing to commemorate the 50th Munich Olympics Massacre anniversary on Sept 5th.

Abbas is on his 18th year of a 4-year Presidential term, and the 87 year-old has not figured out yet, that he's an obstacle to peace and the well-being of his people.

He will never figure it out. Abbas is a fool who supports and facilitates the existence of groups like Hamas. As long as Palestine and its population refuse to recognize Israel's right to exist, there will never be peace.

With regard to the entire region of the Middle East, a lot of progress was made with the Abraham Accords but I would not depend on the Biden administration (or any Democrat administration) to expand and build on these Accords. They are potentially the pathway to creating a meaningful degree of peace in the Middle East and could be used for *a lot* of good IF there was the sense and willingness to do that, which the Left clearly lacks.

You knowledge base seems to be stuck on 1970.

a lot of progress was made with the Abraham Accords

You mean the Trump publicity stunt, that put $2.5B into his son-in-laws investment firm?

You may not be aware of it, but the Abraham Accords were conducted between a group of Arab countries, that had already semi-normalized doing business with Israel, and are NOT at war with Israel. They left out all the parties that engaged in war.

What's really lacking is a basic understanding of the situation on your part.

Okiee. You think it's stuck in 1970 because Palestine is still saying it won't recognize Israel's right to exist? Sorry to inform you of this, but that's to do with them, not me.

You clearly know nothing about the Middle East or the Abraham Accords, lol. Significantly more business is taking place between Arab countries and Israel as a result of the Accords. Even the Democrats have recognized the importance of the Accords and have said they wish to continue with them. My point was that because of their ineptitude, they probably won't do that in a very successful manner.

No, your knowledge base is stuck in 1970. As a precursor to Oslo, In 1993, the PLO recognized Israel's right to exist in peace.

You clearly know nothing about the Middle East

You mean other than having lived in Israel for part of my life, and following news from the area, through local language news sources? And having just gotten back from a trip, that included several countries in the area? I guess I don't know as much as you do 🤣

or the Abraham Accords

🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

@Northwest Oh right, you're someone who believes that because Palestine said that in 1993, it means they actually do recognize Israel's right to exist. Well, this isn't the reality and their actions (and words) continually demonstrate that.

You mean other than having lived in Israel for part of my life

Let me guess...did you spend a few weeks on a Kibbutz? 🤣

@SW-User This is really more about this statement of yours:

You clearly know nothing about the Middle East or the Abraham Accords

The fact is that you have no fucking clue what I know or don't know. So, when you say something like this, it shows how little YOU know. That's just simple logic.

It's all about the statements you make here, and how they measure up to reality.

So, when you say that "Palestine is still saying it won't recognize Israel's right to exist", that does not measure up to reality, making your statement totally false.

So, you decide to move the goal post, and amended it to: Oh right, you're someone who believes that because Palestine said that in 1993, it means they actually do recognize Israel's right to exist.. Again, you're making assumptions about me. Not a good thing to do, because you don't know fuck about me. Secondly, it's not about what I believe, it's about their public statements, AND their track record. I am not going to assume you don't know about the joint coordination between Israel and the PLO, which can mostly be demonstrated through the highly publicized operation in Dubai, to assassinate the Hamas "financier", and make it look like a heart attack. But I'm sure you know all about it. I'm sure you also know that Hamas is not the PLO and even that Hamas is not the Islamic Jihad that engaged Israel a couple of weeks ago.

Let me guess...did you spend a few weeks on a Kibbutz? 🤣

It's not really about where I lived, is it? It's about YOUR statement, and again, I will remind you: You clearly know nothing about the Middle East. That's the issue, and you are clearly incorrect. So, rather than continue embarrassing yourself, and trying to make this about me, how about you demonstrate you actually know something. As it stands, every single statement you made here, is factually incorrect.

@Northwest 😂

I've really upset you, haven't I? You need to realize that this all comes from your inability to accept a true statement, which is that Palestine does not really accept Israel's right to exist. I guess you're not used to being put in your place by a woman, especially one way younger than you. My advice is that you get used to it.

To put it bluntly, I really don't give a fuck what you think you know (arrogant, much?) and due to your insistence on something that is so demonstrably incorrect, I have every reason to question your knowledge.
