The average NBA salary is 4.6 Million
The average WNBA salary is 120 Thousand.
Think about that.

I'm assuming they think it's because the WNBA are women therefore they are paid less?

Could it be they are paid according to the interest in the WNBA? Watch a game if you see it on TV, it looks like a high school game with the number of fans in the stands, I think women's college ball has more fans.

It's what brings in the money. Women's sports simply do not generate as much as men's sports. That could be a reflection that we as consumers of sports do not value women's sports as much as men's sports.

@JimboSaturn That's the truth but some people think it's more than just not being interested, like it's an anti woman thing.
People will watch what they want to watch.

@FreeSpirit1 I agree to some extent. We are not used to watching women's sports, they are relatively new in our society and have not been developed. That part of the equation is the "anti woman" part of our past.

The WNBA is hyped all over the place , it just isn't a public favorite, and the league is 26 yrs old.

@FreeSpirit1 But not as old as men's sports. It is not as hyped as much as men's sports. It takes time for the bias to go away. But that being said just because you don't watch women's sports it doesn't mean you are anti-woman.

@JimboSaturn Exactly , it's not anti woman, but some label the lack of fans that way.
It is bias though, the bias is against the product not the sex of the athletes.
