The average WNBA salary is 120 Thousand.
Think about that.

I'm assuming they think it's because the WNBA are women therefore they are paid less?

Could it be they are paid according to the interest in the WNBA? Watch a game if you see it on TV, it looks like a high school game with the number of fans in the stands, I think women's college ball has more fans.

This is an interesting topic, actually. I don't disagree with the difference in fan support, revenue, etc. in basketball, so there's no way the salaries could be equivalent. But it gets more complicated when you turn to sports like soccer and tennis. There has been recent progress in pay levels there, but for decades women's tennis was at least as popular as men's tennis by any measure, including crowd size, and the prize money was much less.
