The average NBA salary is 4.6 Million
The average WNBA salary is 120 Thousand.
Think about that.

I'm assuming they think it's because the WNBA are women therefore they are paid less?

Could it be they are paid according to the interest in the WNBA? Watch a game if you see it on TV, it looks like a high school game with the number of fans in the stands, I think women's college ball has more fans.

People overthink things sometimes. I have a daughter who was really good in sports. It was disappointing that her activities didn't draw the same attendance the boys did. They practice, play, and work just as hard. But at the end of the day, it didn't bring the same interest within the community. It is what it is.

NBA/WNBA, these are paid professionals doing their job. If your "job" doesn't bring in the revenue then maybe you need to look for a different job.

@WindTherapy Women's figure skating draws more interest than men's figure skating. Can't think of any other sports where the women get more attention from the public at large.

Women's soccer in the USA, but only when they are in the world cup or the Olympics do they get more viewers than USA men's soccer, but it's also because they are usually ranked 1 or 2 in the world, if they sucked I bet no one would watch. They have a league but just about break even in that.

@FreeSpirit1 And the undefeated US women's soccer team lost to a team of 15-year-old boys. Lately, the US women's team hasn't been so hot.

@WindTherapy I agree. And to further this…if the team making millions of dollars does not win, they should receive a deduction of pay for that game.

@graphite Yes they lost to boys, it's why sports are supposed to be separate.
They play boys to help them train and they don't compete against boys they compete against other women.
I saw a video of a run of the mill male soccer player go through five uswnt players and score on the goalie like he was fooling around. They all laughed in the video.

@JimboSaturn That's another one. But nobody has any interest in gymnastics except during the Olympics every four years, where the athletes don't get paid.
