Is it really ignorant to stop watching the news?

I've had a Media blackout for quite a while now (except coverage of UK heatwave) and dont really know what's going on in the world.

Strange thing is, I feel carefree and happier not hearing and seeing all the sadness and negativity out there.

I'm shocked at the number of people who are incredibly misinformed. Granted, it is hard to stay informed, all news now must be taken in under a critical eye. But some of the problems we are seeing in the world stem from an ill-informed public.

it's a challenge, but just turning the news off isn't helping anyone
