Is it really ignorant to stop watching the news?

I've had a Media blackout for quite a while now (except coverage of UK heatwave) and dont really know what's going on in the world.

Strange thing is, I feel carefree and happier not hearing and seeing all the sadness and negativity out there.

It's kind of the definition of ignorance to ignore the news.
Obscene stuff was loaded into everything politics for 2016-. Women definitely disengaged, libs went away, politics was purified for conservatives by porn. Bernie was drowned out.
It's not like people can stand to engage! You aren't supposed to.
