Is it really ignorant to stop watching the news?

I've had a Media blackout for quite a while now (except coverage of UK heatwave) and dont really know what's going on in the world.

Strange thing is, I feel carefree and happier not hearing and seeing all the sadness and negativity out there.

Ignorant? No, but one does get out of touch with what is going on around them. To stay informed I take a look at a variety of outlets, both those I like and dislike. I view the news as an alert system, but I never take anything as gospel, so to speak. You have to vet what they are saying... any and all of them.
