Is it really ignorant to stop watching the news?

I've had a Media blackout for quite a while now (except coverage of UK heatwave) and dont really know what's going on in the world.

Strange thing is, I feel carefree and happier not hearing and seeing all the sadness and negativity out there.

I don’t believe so. There are very few news organizations here now that give straight information, rather than opinions based upon political agendas, on either side. I tend to use my local station, NPR and stations like Reuters and BBC to know what’s going on in the world.
