Will Ted Cruz & the GOP tell us we have too many doors in hospitals after this Tulsa mass shooting?
Or maybe they failed to teach self defense to the patients?
BTW, just to update the numbers, the shooter was also found dead, to 5 total deaths, plus 10 injuries.

Tulsa Police Department Captain Richard Meulenberg told CNN that the suspect in the hospital shooting was armed with a semiautomatic rifle and a semiautomatic pistol, both of which he is believed to have used to carry out the attack.

@jackjjackson I personally LOVE the idea that every gun owner needs a license, and licensing requires passing a psychological stability test. But you gun fetishists would scream bloody murder at that, wouldn't you???

@ElwoodBlues Cant argue with those that believe that their vieuws are absolute. As I said, these people are zealots.

I do support the 2nd Amendment. I do have a carry permit. I don’t carry but like the idea of having the permit. I don’t use the shotgun and Glock except at the range to keep in practice. @ElwoodBlues
Graylight · 51-55, F
If only we armed all healthcare professionals. Stethoscope, pen, Glock.
If only we had but one single armed, secured entrance for all patients and staff. Interesting shift changes.
If only we seriously considered mental health...oh, wait. It's not mental health this time, not the lack of bulletproof backpacks, not the prevalence of hoodies, not reluctant personnel, not the ammo used or the trigger guard or anything else. It was an angry man who went to take revenge on the world for his pain.
Now, what could we have done to prevent the situation?

@Carla It is so hilarious to think that a person who flips out and goes on a killing spree wouldn't have done it if he had had firearm safety training, insurance and a license.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@Carla If people kill people and guns aren't the issue, I guess it's not vehicles that kill people, it's the drivers. And yet if you were to ask the guy who got pummeled with an F150, I'm sure he'd say he'd have preferred it to be a Schwinn.
I, too, am a gun owner. Not by choice, but it ended up with me. I'm trained and I keep trained on the workings, maintenance and use of the item. It makes me feel no safer, no more secure. It's a weapon of death within reach. It's unlicensed, unregistered and requires nothing to own or use it (and of FL can loosen those horrible restrictions, they will).
I also use to fingerprint and background all the 18-25 young men who came in to be concealed carriers. You don't want many, many of these people carrying groceries to your car, much less ordering Dunkin' with a 9mm, which I have seen.
Canada has guns, too. A lot of them. And regulation at every step so stringent it weeds out most all those who don't absolutely require a firearm. I'd agree to any regulation, but I'd even more happily surrender mine in order to figure out one of the largest problems this country has. We don't hunt. We don't live without locks on doors. We live in the age of information, when knowledge dispels the darkness a gun too often punctuates. We simply don't have need of guns.
We have more guns than citizens. If "good guys with guns" worked, we'd live in an idyllic paradise.

@Graylight i am in almost total agreement.
We live out in the sticks. Two women.
Ive had to use my gun against a rabid racoon, which broke me to pieces.
About ten years ago, a man showed up on my back deck. Walked right through my back gate(now all the gates are padlocked). The guy was obviously impaired, was belligerent and wouldnt leave. I got my little pistol, my gf called 911, he left, disappearing into the woods. It wasnt the call that chased him off, it was the pistol. Cops never looked for him. Typical.
Anyway...not a fan of a complete ban, but would comply if i was asked.

Yet another one.
Should we ask if he bought his weapons legally or ripped them off of someone else?
Or just Worship the guns and say thoughts and prayers for the victims?

@MistyCee "Thoughts and prayers"™ works so well. Shootings are a daily occurance.
@Crazywaterspring Depends on what you're praying for. If you're praying for more deaths, it seems to work pretty well.

Apparently he bought the gun only a few hours before the shooting so I wonder how much checking of his character was done ☹️
Police: Tulsa suspect targeted surgeon he blamed for pain
Source: AP
A man who blamed his surgeon for ongoing pain after a recent back surgery bought an AR-style rifle hours before opening fire at a Tulsa medical office, killing the surgeon and three other people before fatally shooting himself, police said Thursday.
Tulsa Police Chief Wendell Franklin says the gunman had recently undergone back surgery and had called a clinic repeatedly complaining of pain.
Franklin says the doctor who performed the surgery, Dr. Preston Phillips, was killed Wednesday, along with another doctor, a receptionist and a patient.
“We also have a letter on the suspect, which made it clear that he came in with the intent to kill Dr. Phillips and anyone who got in his way,” Franklin said. “He blamed Dr. Phillips for the ongoing pain following the surgery.”

@Spunkylama Since in this case back pain kills, will the Republicans support outlawing back pain? Or just offer thoughts and prayers for the pain?
Assault-style weapon in deadly Tulsa medical facility shooting was bought that day, sources say
https://edition.cnn.com/2022/06/02/us/tulsa-hospital-shooting-thursday/index.html
(CNN) An assault-style weapon found at the scene of Wednesday's deadly shooting in an Oklahoma medical building had been bought that day, according to three federal sources briefed on the investigation.
A gunman -- who was later found dead -- opened fire on the second floor of a medical building on the campus of Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa on Wednesday afternoon, killing four people. Fewer than 10 others were injured, authorities said.
The assault-style weapon was an AR-15 style firearm, a source said. A different weapon -- a handgun -- was purchased on May 29, a source told CNN.
The two firearms -- a semiautomatic rifle and a semiautomatic pistol -- were both found at the scene, Tulsa police Capt. Richard Meulenberg told CNN earlier. "It was just madness inside, with hundreds of rooms and hundreds of people trying to get out of the building," Meulenberg told CNN.

Your thoughts on mass violence that takes place in Democrat-run cities every day in America? Oh wait, that's right, it's only blacks who get killed in that violence. Democrat racism has run unabated since they fought to preserve slavery and formed the KKK.
@DCarey Shut up repedocan.

@canusernamebemyusername How about answering my question instead of going ad hom.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
The cabal stirs up hysteria over mass shootings in order to get the people to disarm themselves. When that happens they will then be able to take control of the country because the population will be defenseless. It is a beautiful plan.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@Diotrephes That, or this nation finally stops killing itself.
Do you really think gamers with guns will stop an overthrow?

Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@Graylight It is amazing what people can accomplish if they are willing to die for a cause. The funny thing is that the dead will never see if it was worth it and lots of the living who fought for the cause will never benefit from it even if their side wins. Look at all of the homeless veterans. Maybe they would have been better off if they had stayed home and watched tv instead of going off to foreign countries to kill strangers.

@jackjjackson Indeed. Would this be an appropriate time to discuss gun control?

Obviously, what needs to be done is to arm all the nurses, medical assistants, and doctors. What could possibly go wrong?
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@CorvusBlackthorne Don't forget the patients! They need to protect themselves too.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@windinhishair And the visitors should be handed a weapon as soon as they enter the door.
