Why do you think the uk is a comparable example to the us? Do you actually think every country is the same and you can copy paste policies and get the same results?
The us has hundreds of millions of privately owned guns. We have the largest drug market in the world. We share an unsecure border with a drug producing country partially ran by drug importing cartels. The illegal gun market is huge and gun laws do nothing about that.
The uk is a fucking island with a low baseline of crime compared to us, and the gun ban didn't even significantly lower the homicide rate. Neither did the aus gun ban.
If it's so simple as "gun laws would stop it but they don't want to" why are the areas with the most gun crime so often also areas with very strict gun control?
