Why not try

Gun violence is destroying children in the US, and really what most gun folk are saying about it is, "so what? Who cares? We love our guns more than we do our children."
However, there are places in the world that still value the lives of children

and now, the UK has mass stabbings instead...

because getting stabbed in the gut and dying a slow agonizing death is so much more "non violent" than getting shot and instantly killed... 馃

Yep, we're paying attention... 馃檮

First they ban guns, then stabbing crimes go up, now they're banning knives...

what's next? cricket bats? rocks?

And acid attacks are at an all time high. They never had acid attacks in the not so distant past, but when you open the borders to third world countries, you get third world crime. @wildbill83

You've not read Brighton Rock then.

@ninalanyon Good book? Have to admit that I'm fond of Greene, but not read a lot of his work.
ninalanyon61-69, T
@Bushranger I used to read a lot of his stuff. But these days I prefer lighter stuff. Greene gets right into people's minds, these days I find it uncomfortable. I read Brighton Rock as a teenager, the school was big enough to have two English literature classes, one had Jane Eyre as the set book, the other Brighton rock. I read both both but had to study Jane Eyre, :-(

I haven't read Brighton Rock in the last twenty or thirty years so all I'm left with really is an impression of dark violence, but I remember thinking it was very good at the time. The reason I mentioned it in the response to @Carissimi is that it is set in the '30s (I think) and sulphuric acid is used in it.

@ninalanyon I haven't read any Greene for decades and honestly can't remember what of his I have read. I think I saw the movie based on the book, but can't even be really sure of that.

I got the reference, though.

@wildbill83 The US cannot stop the influx of guns coming here. They can't even trace the number of illegal guns that are coming in from Mexico. The same people who want gun control also want a borderless North America. How can they reconcile the two?
wildbill8336-40, M
@RocktheHouse they can't and/or won't; they just resort to personal insults if you even allude to the fact...

I doubt that even some eccentric crazed lunatic high on amphetamines could come up with some of the nonsensical ideas that they do...馃
