Should everyone in the US conform to the teachings of the Evangelical Church?

Are the Evangelicals the driving force behind the Republican Party?

There is no "Evangelical Church", but there *are* "evangelical" Christians...though (paradoxically!) they often spout things contrary to the teachings of Jesus and they often do not "evangelize".

But, to get to your points...

1) No church/set of religious beliefs (or even cult beliefs) should be the tail wagging all of America, even if 95% of Americans were of a single belief system.

The Establishment clause is about this.

2) Yes, with the large admixture of the conspiracy theories (QAnonsense, etc.).

I think you've got a good bead on American politics... 😮‍💨😟😢
