Are the Evangelicals the driving force behind the Republican Party?

They are not, but they are certainly the driving force behind every GOP electoral victory since they put Ronald Reagan in the White House, going to Cheeto Benito.

@Northwest Reagan was the first to realize he needed their votes to win. Now the Evangelical Church is a well organized, well funded tax free voting block.
