Should we have listened to Patton?

“I understand the situation. Their (the Soviet) supply system is inadequate to maintain them in a serious action such as I could put to them. They have chickens in the coop and cattle on the hoof — that’s their supply system. They could probably maintain themselves in the type of fighting I could give them for five days. After that it would make no difference how many million men they have, and if you wanted Moscow I could give it to you. They lived on the land coming down. There is insufficient left for them to maintain themselves going back. Let’s not give them time to build up their supplies. If we do, then . . . we have had a victory over the Germans and disarmed them, but we have failed in the liberation of Europe; we have lost the war!”

George S. Patton

Communism Vs Nazism is like Mexican drug cartels fighting one another over the right to own everyone.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Heartlander I believe the same group is orchestrating both. Playing humanity off against one another.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@Heartlander both are socialism under the guise of being something different...
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
That is a very interesting concept. I want to give that some research. Very thought provoking and a thought that never occurred to me and now I can see the possibilities. BRILLIANT! @cherokeepatti

@jackjjackson have heard about this many years ago. Both sides responsible for genocides, both use same tactics to gain power.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Sure makes sense and provides many explanations at first glance. Thanks for bringing it up. What calls it self “news” sure would not bring it up. @cherokeepatti

@wildbill83 Study the definition of socialism. Nazis appropriated the term, but not the concept. China and Russia did the same thing. Totalitarianism frequently projects its actions on the opposition because the populace wants to believe and is generally ignorant or is ill informed. A true socialist/communist may have never existed, but came closest over 100 years ago. Mao, Lenin, Stalin, Castro, etc. were all dictators or kleptocrats who used the illusion of socialism and communism. Here we use the illusion of democracy for our own oligarchs. Our ruling class is dominated by moneyed special interests. Oldest story of greed, self-interest, and short-term profit.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@Neoerectus definition and concept is irrelevant; there is no "correct" version of socialism, because it always devolves into a dictatorship; totalitarianism, fascism, etc. are all just semantics
"Our ruling class is dominated by moneyed special interests."
True enough, but at least through the end of WW2 and maybe Korea, these moneyed families sent their own sons to war, for example, the Kennedys and the Roosevelts.

Now, they don't do that anymore; they just enrich themselves.

You nailed it. It goes back to the beginning of civilization and has contunued unabated. @Neoerectus
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
How about all the famous athletes that were in the military during WWII, Ted Williams, etc. and in the primes of their careers? Not to mention Elvis Presley and others from that community. @Thinkerbell
