@WalksWith Some Rightoid yesterday tried to tell me there were Millions of people and 10,000 trucks descending on downtown Ottawa this weekend to support "Freedumb"! 🤪

@Carla The counter protest certainly did seem pretty peaceful, I don't think they'd have anything to gain by it becoming violent and yes it is Canada so I think they went home peacefully after, like the truckers should have done!

@Carla Oh we agree on that, there is definitely a nefarious element that jumped on the trucker protest bandwagon in order to further their cause but thinking the Government is unaware of who they are would be foolish. If the real trucker protesters have the good sense to leave peacefully, then the Police can arrest the remaining nitwits and drag them off to jail where they can crow about their "Freedumb" all they want!

@Nanoose To be fair, I think a lot of them are frustrated with the inaction by the Police in getting these sieges under control and cleared out too

@spjennifer Well the thing about that is this is Canada so before any actions were taken they weighed the options and legalities in parliament as well as hearing what the public thought. And I wouldn't want it any other way. I remember once Trump wanted to clear out protesters so he could have a photo op of him holding up a bible in front of a church. Even though those protesters had the legal right to be there Trump sent in his goons and the protesters were pepper sprayed and beating. Pretty sure that when the Canadian cops start legally clearing out the convoy it will be done as peacefully as possible. Cheers!

@Nanoose I don't think the Canadian Government would have had anything to gain by sending in stormtroopers to disperse the protesters. That being said, I agree, I hope they simply disperse and go home peacefully.

@LeopoldBloom From what I read, only about a dozen or so were arrested at the Ambassador Bridge, the few who just didn't want to leave.

@KlonB I didn't have a "heart attack" over your insignificant and racist rambling, I just deleted it. There's nothing wrong with you having an opposing opinion but keep the racist comments out of it or it gets deleted.

@whowasthatmaskedman I don't know, I'd like to think that most of them are just normal people trying to make a living to survive and support their families like the rest of us are, we can't paint them all with the same brush... 90% of Canadian truckers ARE vaccinated so these idiots are but a small minority.

@spjennifer Its a similar thing here when a lot of interstate lock downs were on. No vax, no entry and that was state law..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman Which is common sense, protect your citizens and try and keep everyone safe, same with the masks, they aren't perfect but they're better than nothing. That's the problem with many of these truckers, it's all about THEM, fuck everyone else, their "Freedumb" is all that matters. tbh I got the vaccines with some trepidation too as anyone with some common sense would but the greater good matters more to me and I believe in the science behind them.

@caesar7 The "Emergencies Act" is not somewhere that the Government wants to go just yet, there are laws and Police to enforce the laws, if things get violent and protesters start to fight with Police, then you bring in the Military but only if Police can't handle it...
