Alliances aren't what they used to be :(

Russia still seems on the brink of invading Ukraine and all the Ukraine-friendly countries are saying they would definitely impose economic sanctions on Russia if that happened. But they would not help Ukraine fight. Canada is even hesitating about whether to sell Ukraine weapons.

I am glad there isn't going to be a world war over this BUT if I were Ukrainian I would feel totally betrayed.

@Oberon1 We had a few years of Obama-era economic trends, before Trump hit the first crisis he didn’t create himself. And this situation in Eastern Europe runs on a very different timeline than US politics - spanning GW era to present.

@QuixoticSoul I don't understand why you have to be so damn insulting. Yes! Ukrainians work much harder than Russians or Americans. I love my Ukrainian friends, but I hate my hypocritical government who disregards all things to encourage war.
(That is all ridiculous because taking Russia and Ukraine into one country would be like taking north and south America into one country! ) This is none our business to begin with, but........They are playing each other against each other to form an alliance that will hurt us all. Russia and US should be best of friends. We are the best of idiots!

@Oberon1 Nobody insulted you, but I’m half Russian, quarter Ukrainian, and quarter Belarussian - and I’ve lived in and visited those places, still read their local media, etc. I know more about them because these are my original people and culture. I know them in ways you do not, especially since you deal with immigrants - who are the creme off the top, the most driven and dedicated representatives of any group.

And no, we will not be dancing, Russia and the US are geopolitical antagonists for very real and structural reasons.
