Alliances aren't what they used to be :(

Russia still seems on the brink of invading Ukraine and all the Ukraine-friendly countries are saying they would definitely impose economic sanctions on Russia if that happened. But they would not help Ukraine fight. Canada is even hesitating about whether to sell Ukraine weapons.

I am glad there isn't going to be a world war over this BUT if I were Ukrainian I would feel totally betrayed.

@Eternity Well, yes, we are closely intertwined with the USA in all defence matters. How that would work out in practice, I don't know.

@Eternity True. I don't find the history of US-Cuba relations very encouraging in other respects though! I have no wish to be the target of vicious sanctions and occasional invasion attempts if we were to elect a truly left-wing government....
