Tremendously selfish act. He couldn't have cared less how this could impact the whole conversation about hate crimes and racial tension and the victims thereof. He did a huge disservice and it's sickening to think that he did it to further himself and his career. And what a terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE job he did faking it all and then doubling down on it. Hard to believe there isn't some real Dunning-Kruger effect here, as I grapple with either his total cluelessness or his contempt for our intelligence.

@uncalled4 I agree that he wasn’t looking at the big picture, by any means. He hadn’t fully thought out what it would mean for him when he was found out—and he had to know he would be, eventually. His career, his name and reputation are trash now.

@bijouxbroussard Remember when he took the stage at the Troubadour after that? He told his emotionally-charged "story", and then told people to be "blacker" and "gayer" or some such? Geez, the guy has huge mental issues. I didn't follow it that closely--were black or LGBTQ groups saying anything about this? He really set them back, and they cannot have been pleased.

@uncalled4 No, and most are making their statement by not commenting. In the beginning some people were offering support, but even then I remember my brother saying, "something about this doesn’t sound right…" and I decided to wait and see.
