WTG Canada!

Effective today, Canada has banned "Conversion Therapy, advertising conversion therapy and profiting from conversion therapy"! At least Canada has had the guts to ban this heinous practice that has damaged many young lives.

Edited to include the following:

Bill C4 has been approved by both Houses of Canada, Parliament and Senate:

Bill C4 adds the following four offenses to the Criminal Code of Canada, punishable with jail time up to five years as well as fines:

(a) causing another person to undergo conversion therapy;

(b) doing anything for the purpose of removing a child from Canada with the intention that the child undergo conversion therapy outside Canada;

(c) promoting or advertising conversion therapy; and

(d) receiving a financial or other material benefit from the provision of conversion therapy.”

All cruel behavior and speech is heinous, but unless you allow people to choose, there is no freedom. Why don’t they ban cruel mind games/gaslighting by lying politicians?

@Carissimi they will not ban indoctrination of youngsters either. They will not mention the amount of suicides committed by totally sexually confused kids either.

@revenant Exactly what "indoctrination" are you talking about? kids are NOT being "indoctrinated" or brainwashed, the Government is giving them the ability to make an important decision on their own, despite the parent's objections or beliefs. I don't think this should be done without counseling which SHOULD include both the parents and the child but if the child is old enough, they should have the ability to decide for themselves even if the parents object. The child is the one who will have to live with their decision as they will soon be an adult, so you think they shouldn't be permitted to make those decisions???

This Law was enacted precisely because many children are not being given the choice by their own parents, they are being forced to undergo "Conversion Therapy" so they can pray the gay away, so where is the "Freedom" then? The only honest politician is one who hasn't been elected yet...

@spjennifer a 14 year old cannot make any informed decision. This is the age of fantasy, confusion, self doubt and puberty. Moreover they are not deemed adult to make any important decision concerning their lives. They cannot have bank accounts etc.
In Ontario the few docs who dare say the truth find themselves getting fired

I must think further on this, but they should not be forced. They must be allowed to choose, which means there must be a choice. No. That doesn’t work either because if under the age of consent, the parents choose for a child. Maybe the age is the problem. They must be 18 (or whatever the coming of age is) to choose what they want to do. This takes the parents out of it. It’s a very complex human issue, and requires deep thought and consideration. There should be a law that no child under age of consent can cut body parts off, or have hormones pumped into their body. @spjennifer

@revenant Interesting that you use the age of 14 as the "Tackling Violent Crime Act" states that it's acceptable for a 14 year old to consent to sex with someone less than 5 years older. Get real, kids today are having sex at 12 years old, like it or not. The logical reasoning is that if they are old enough to be having consensual sex, they are old enough to decide their Gender Identity. I don't want to get into a debate about Gender Identity on this post as this one wasn't about GI and I already asked you politely to take it to another post of your own.

@Carissimi This post wasn't about Gender Identity as much as @revenant has attempted to make it so over and over. I was talking about Canada banning "Conversion Therapy" which many Religious parents are using to attempt to brainwash their children out of being gay. Whether they like it or not, one can not pray the gay away or brainwash someone into being straight. This is an offensive and abusive practice that has been banned in 13 other Countries and now in Canada because it has caused much psychological damage and suicide attempts and suicides.
