WTG Canada!

Effective today, Canada has banned "Conversion Therapy, advertising conversion therapy and profiting from conversion therapy"! At least Canada has had the guts to ban this heinous practice that has damaged many young lives.

Edited to include the following:

Bill C4 has been approved by both Houses of Canada, Parliament and Senate:

Bill C4 adds the following four offenses to the Criminal Code of Canada, punishable with jail time up to five years as well as fines:

(a) causing another person to undergo conversion therapy;

(b) doing anything for the purpose of removing a child from Canada with the intention that the child undergo conversion therapy outside Canada;

(c) promoting or advertising conversion therapy; and

(d) receiving a financial or other material benefit from the provision of conversion therapy.”

Canada was always more liberal than other places. To be expected

@Stargazer89 So you're for conversion therapy?
Never looked into it, what are the success rates? Has their been any deeper studies on the subject at all?

If it’s useless and causes more harm then good then sure, ban it, but if there’s a science behind it that deserves further study then banning it is a stupid idea.

@Unity Sadly there is no legitimate "science" behind it, just a bunch of quacks taking advantage of religious parents mortal fear of their child being OMG Gay! Gotta convert them back to being "straight" or they'll go to hell for their sins! Canada didn't just ban it because they felt like it,they banned it because it's a heinous practice which only does damage to people who are already struggling with their sexual orientation. California banned it back in 2013 because it's wrong.
@Unity it’s useless. Exodus International, the largest ex-gay organization in the world, closed its doors after its president, Alan Chambers, admitted that their success rate was less than 1/10 of 1%. Gay conversion therapy has been shown to lead to harmful outcomes, including suicide.
