McCarthy looks so far I'm over his head, I'm sure he'd bark if Trump or Q said "speak" at this point.
It's a little sad, because I think he was really trying to be an adult at times, but he's no McConnnell or even a Graham, and his only shot at being Speaker is to work for the destruction of the Republic at this point.
I could be wrong, of course, but I don't think he has an exit strategy and needs to swing things towards fascism/Trumpism to hold on.

@MistyCee At one point they were all beholden to Trump and had to ride it out. Try to get reelected on Trump's coattails but it's gone so far now the whole party is enabling White Supremacists, Qanon for votes. That is a really dangerous road to travel to get votes. Absolutely nothing coming out of the GQP is true. They are doing the exact same thing with The Big Lie as they are with Vaccines. It doesn't even matter to them that they are killing their own constituents.
@Pitchblue I hear what you're saying, but what's the danger really at this point in sticking on the same road?
Trump was always a chaos candidate, and the demographics for Republicans spelled their doom without embracing it.
They did, bought themselves a bunch of like minded judges and continued money from big business, but unless the American voters turn against them big time, far more than they did in 2020, I don't see much of a path for anyone already tainted by support for Trump to actually start fighting for decency, ethics, morality, or even a genuine form of democracy.

@Pitchblue Who's trying to repair it?
Only the folks who didn't approve of it and embrace it, and my guess is, the majority of Americans will accept their bread and circuses and just say, a pox on all politicians, until one offers them something juicy for themselves.
I'm sick and tired, really of hearing about how Trump is trying to end Democracy. The guy really just took advantage of it, albeit at the expense of the more basic notions of morality, ethics, and civil behavior that made it work.
Trump, imo, really was what our founding fathers feared about Democracy, and we learned nothing from the French Revolution and what Tom Paine did next.

@MistyCee Trump certainly exposed how corrupt, how sleazy politics is. With him as president all kinds of deviant behavior bubbled up to the top. Just look at how many Republicans have been charged with sex trafficking. It's like they normalized fucking kids the same way they normalized White Supremacy.
I look at politics in general and cringe. Even if Biden gets a trillion dollars out into the country for infrastructure I fear half of the money will be siphoned off by politicians. Everything is a grift.

@Pitchblue You're the puppet, is really where Trump shines, along with whatabouts.
He can't and really doesnt bother to defend himself because it works better to attack the other guy.
Honestly, it's pretty effective to say were all crook, and I'm you're kind of crook because I hate the same people you hate.

@Pitchblue he may have been gut punched, but he was gut punched by a not very genuine seeming woman who threatened his misogynistic base, including of course a number of women who resented her for looking down on them.
I thought that was a win for Hillary, probably as you did, but foramy voters, he was just calling it like it is, and standing up for himself, which many of them probably saw as refreshingly " honest" in a weird sort of way.
I do get where Hillary came off as a hypocrite compared to Trump's I don't pretend to give a f-ck about honesty, ethics, or anyone but *,us."
Tbh, Trump's message about self interest is very powerful and very much American.
