So the infrastructure bill hasnt passed? I thought it was good to go?

I hope if it passes they make an allowance for the arts.

Wow they might start using electric buses. Cool? It sounds good to me if they are proven safe. Does electricity depend on nuclear power? I mean, obvious there's solar but where else does electricity come from? (A little off topic but oh well, was just thinking about the electric busses.)

Anyone want to chit-chat?
Electric anything does not work well at all in cold climates. Manufacturing the batteries is extremely toxic (which is why they’re made in China). Recycling the batteries is costly (they’ll end up in landfills or the bottom of the ocean leaching out heavy metals like nickle, lead, cadmium and lithium). For long distance trips they are impractical. As more people buy electric cars and start charging them at home, utilities will be forced to raise everyone’s rates in order to upgrade the grid. All in all, electric cars are a very bad idea.

@SteelHands well, there's no disposing of it anyway then?

We sold China the best and cleanest bus technology ... then outlawed it in the US

Buses which run on a engine the size of a lawnmower ... using fluid reservoirs to recapture energy lost in deceleration.

Which could run a week without refueling.
Whoa. WTF? @questionWeaver
@stratosranger It was the simplest concept ... it recaptured 85% of all energy during deceleration ... meaning it could operate with an engine 19X smaller and still out accelerate a current bus.

The French outlawed it too ... Renault produced a 180 MPG car ... and the EURO-zone outlawed its manufacture.

The lesson is "do not not go against liberal socialist thinking"
@questionWeaver Wow. That’s sad as hell
I do not think the infrastructure bill will be passed in the next 360 days.

Congress is already bored with it.

They now have 5 HUGE bills to pass in the next 45 days and time to only consider 1

Congress usually over promises and under-delivers.

@questionWeaver Thank God for under delivers when the Dems are in charge.
@carpediem true to that

The used to have electric buses decades ago. Everyone was thrilled when they were gone.

@Candie in 90's hydrogen was going to be the fuel of future yet after 3 decades we are just beginning to transition to electric very sad

@Candie Good question. I don't believe it was. He did ok with it.
@Candie the battery powered buses they are proposing have batteries ... 2 tons per bus and can run about 3 hours

we have finally depleted and used up our coal sources, biggest fuel now is natural gas, a little cleaner. nuclear is expensive and powwr plants are very old and obsolete. need solar and wind on each building\home not millions in prarie\desert and ocean with even more ugly power lines. also the flora\weeds\vines have enormous energy hidden inside
carpediem · 61-69, M
@1490wayb What? We have LOTS of coal in the US
SteelHands · 61-69, M
@carpediem Coal for energy in newer designed coal burning plants is virtually pollution free.

Clean burn technology plants is what our tax money should be funding for our industrial independence.

The by product of coal mining is highly economically relevant.

That byproduct is called coke. It is a crucial element in the making of a vast variety of high quality steels and alloys from raw ore.

The claim that the steel and oil states voted in the Dems is preposterous.
