Why the lessons of 9/11 are wasted

‘No one seems aware any longer that there’s such a thing as a hostile external power that poses a graver threat to our existence than in-house systemic racism or micro-aggressions. In the Biden administration, our generals have been fixated not on international threats, or even on getting our troops safely out of Afghanistan, but on rooting out “white [hate] rage” in our own soldiers. Biden himself has encouraged our intelligence community to switch their focus from Islamist terrorism to domestic extremists on the right…..The lessons of 9/11 are wasted on us’ (Lionel Shriver - Telegraph U.K.)

Seems as if Ms. Shriver forget what it's like in America. It is illegal for our Generals to be looking at domestic terrorism. We have other intelligence agencies that deal with that.

The realization that we have domestic terrorism and it's currently primarily white supremacist may be hard for you to grasp as a foreign racist, but it is what it is and the skin color or "religion" of terrorists does not dictate whether we pay attention to them.

Now, I will wait for your usual ad hominem attacks.

or even on getting our troops safely out of Afghanistan

Facts betray this claim.

As expected, no reply, simply ad hominem attacks.

Yet, one more time, your comment consists only of ad hominem attacks.

@Northwest how many people died last year from white supremacy, how many bombings ?
Let’s have the facts Einstein
@Driver2 Why do you limit your inquiry to a pandemic year, and to bombings? In the US right-wingers prefer mass shootings. There were 50 mass shootings in the US in 2018, almost one per week.
See "All of the extremist killings in the US in 2018 had links to right-wing extremism, according to new report"
https://www.businessinsider.com/extremist-killings-links-right-wing-extremism-report-2019-1

"The number of terrorist attacks by far-right perpetrators rose over the past decade, more than quadrupling between 2016 and 2017," the Center for Strategic and International Studies said in a November 2018 report. "The recent pipe bombs and the October 27, 2018, synagogue attack in Pittsburgh are symptomatic of this trend."

@ElwoodBlues white supremacy shootings , one a week ? Please the numbers let’s see them .
Driver2 · M
@ElwoodBlues did white supremacy burn down the cities and commit the violent attacks against Asians ?
Look at the facts . Are they a problem? Yes of course but nothing like the way it’s portrayed
@Driver2

I gave you the link. Follow it to the original report.

More grist for your mill: in 2020, from Trump's own FBI director (Trump replaced Comey with Wray) "FBI Announces That Racist Violence Is Now Equal Priority To Foreign Terrorism" https://www.npr.org/2020/02/10/804616715/fbi-announces-that-racist-violence-is-now-equal-priority-to-foreign-terrorism

burn down the cities
Last I looked, the cities are still standing.
Driver2 · M
@ElwoodBlues there were more than 50 deaths and billions of dollars in damages from the riots last year . BLM and Antifa were never held responsible. Wray is a stooge I don’t care who put him in charge .
The crime has exploded in the big cities and it’s not from white supremacy.
@Driver2 Ad hominem attacks on Wray don't alter his highly informed conclusions. The fact that other people commit violence doesn't alter Wray's highly informed conclusions.

BTW, I'm seeing "at least 25" deaths from racial unrest in the past year. That's actually less than recent yearly right-wing mass shooting death tolls.

As your arguments amount to nothing that does not alter anything @Northwest

But clearly I am the one who's brainwashed. 🤣 More ad hominem attacks is no substitute to addressing the issues.
Grvstu · 70-79, F
Of course you are brainwashed. Funny that you produce no sensible argument and then accuse other people of doing the same. People are not attacking you they’re just saying you have no sensible argument@Northwest
@Grvstu Sorry, Jean, you've produced nothing but opinions and insults; never facts to back up your claims. Your only "authority" on the terrorism situation in the US is a novelist/columnist with zero law enforcement credentials and zero national security credentials.

Excuse me for preferring the word of Christopher Wray, the USA's top law enforcement official, over your novelist.
Grvstu · 70-79, F
You have produced nothing but your brainwashed no sense. Your law-enforcement officials are laughable. They are just ciphers@ElwoodBlues

She has a thing for brainwashing. She doesn't believe in looking into a mirror.

Grvstu · 70-79, F
For goodness sake you just make up this figment of white supremacy. How many people did they decapitate last year? The genocide has started in Kabul and Afghanistan so where are the white supremacists there? I suppose they are all part of it with Trump at the head@Northwest

How many people did the Qaliphate decapitate in the US last year?

Your quote is from an article about the USA. Stick to your topic.
Grvstu · 70-79, F
A guy in France was decapitated. Of course he doesn’t matter to American liberals @Northwest

And that would be a conversation that's worth having, but YOUR thread is about an American writer (who does not live in the US), proposing things about the USA, using false assumptions. Stop moving the goal post and stick to your own topic.
