Yes it's sad. Yet we can't be the world enforcers.

This and other issues need to be taken on a world wide stance. And that just isn't going to happen any time soon. 馃様

@DeWayfarer i mean at least western countries should fly the women and children out of kabul and let them settle in other countries as refugees...馃槙馃槙馃槙
DeWayfarer61-69, M
@lisasweety we are going to have trouble getting our own people out. This just wasn't thought through. It's too late now to prepare for it.

@DeWayfarer i mean isnt biden sending thousands of troops back 2 afghanistan?? with such manpower they can set up a green zone around the airport and let whoever wants 2 leave come 2 the airport...馃槙馃槙馃槙
DeWayfarer61-69, M
@lisasweety No. We will have trouble even with those thousands. Yet we must attempt to take care of at least our own. That's the only reason why there is those thousands are there at all.

Were talking missiles not just guns. And there currently is no missile defense at all. Why the withdrawl took so long.
@DeWayfarer Also, lets be real. The US threw them under the bus to fuck with the Soviets in the 70s and these people are not stupid and they don't need a foreign savior either.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow

Not saying your exactly wrong, yet look up the history of the Taliban some time.

Heck even where Bin laden was killed. It's a lot more complex than many believe. And most definitely involves Pakistan full hilt.

Pakistan though is a nuclear power. Most forget that! And even then Pakistan was at war with India over Kashmir. Notable because Bin Laden was apart of that conflict.

That we shouldn't have ever got involved is true. That it was because of the Russians and Afghanies not as much as many are saying.
@DeWayfarer I know the history of the Taliban, and the Norther Alliance, and the Soviet and British occupations. And I know what the US did just to screw with the soviets. The Taliban and Bin Laden are literally a creation of US foreign policy.

The ISIS did that work on behalf of the US government and the CIA.

The CIA literally flew Bin Laden from Saudi Arabia to Afghanistan.

All this chaos because the US wanted to play stupid games with the Soviets over ideology.
DeWayfarer61-69, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow yeah yeah yeah it's all US and Russias fault.

Pakistan had no role at all.

[big]BULL![/big]
@DeWayfarer And now you are completely misrepresenting it and slipping a Cold War cliche in the first statement. And pretending Pakistan randomly decided to do this on their own and pretending the CIA was never involved and are a bunch of boy scouts.

Now that is bullshit.
DeWayfarer61-69, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I'm not saying the US should ever have gotten involved in this mess!

And the reason is because Pakistan was involved in this ALL the way and full hilt!

They are a nuclear power! They are not stupid! Heck even Iran still doesn't have nuclear weapons.... yet!
@DeWayfarer And you seem determined to blame Pakistan for something that was initiated by the USA. Stop trying to rewrite history. The ISI has been doing dirty work for the USA since the late 70s.

So what? That happened over a decade later. That is completely irrelevant.
DeWayfarer61-69, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow why are you arguing this?

I had said that the US should never been involved!

We are in agreement on that!

Just the reasons are different.
@DeWayfarer Because you seem determined to turn decades of US foreign policy into "Pakistan is an independent rogue actor who did all this on their own."
DeWayfarer61-69, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Never said it was Pakistan on their own!

I said they are deeply involved in this mess! Heck that's why Bin Laden was even in Pakistan when he was killed!
@DeWayfarer Well that and the US had thoroughly pissed off the Pakistani government by that point so all their former partners in that mess turned.
DeWayfarer61-69, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow not the full story.

Bin Ladin more less was in charge of Pakistani forces in rades into India in the 1970s!

They owed him!
@DeWayfarer That is a bit much. He was an asset. You don't risk pissing off the US military and CIA for an asset. But by that point the US had screwed with the Pakistanis for so long droning their country with total disregard for them being a sovereign nation they had enough and were basically done and played both sides. Not to say some within the ISI might have personally felt like he was on the right side of history. The Pakistani government for years risked the ire of their own people backing the war on terror and felt like they were getting pissed on for their troubles.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow

Not worth the effort arguing here!

Your mind is fixed even if we agree on something's.

@DeWayfarer On this we mostly agree. I just think the American tendency to not even think about the consequences of disrespecting their allies played a bigger role here. They do it with "top tier" allies too. Even Canada is treated like a colony most of the time and it doesn't even seem to occur to the US government that could ever have consequences.
@DeWayfarer I mean the CIA bugged Angela Merkel's cellphone FFS.
