RELIGIOUS TRAUMA... Whew!

So much of deconstruction is breaking down 'fear dogma'. A great analogy is imagining growing up with someone who you trusted and they said 'there's a monster under your bed and it's going to eat you alive if you don't do all these things" that they describe in great detail- its claws, its teeth... And now you have to go back and pull up the bed skirt and look underneath it and find that there's nothing there to be afraid of... The bible says there's no fear in perfect love so why are we so afraid? Why does so much of the doctrine of Christianity have to touch the part of ourselves that's truly so afraid? It doesn't make sense...
