Yes, it is here in Southern Ohio as well, or at least Fall cool weather is beginning to kick in.
Being until I get my new home build finished that I am doing all by myself out of my own pocket and living in the little old farmhouse I will eventually tear down once I have moved into the new home. Because the furnace quick working around 2014 in the old farmhouse I saved money by installing a wood burning stove and being I live on and own a timber farm, I can write off the expenses of the stove and cutting the firewood to heat my old home on my taxes.
So, what I like to do to help heat the home without starting a fire in the wood stove is to use the electric oven more often. So, for breakfast instead of pan frying my bacon, I pre heat the oven to 350 degrees, then I lay all the bacon on a baking pan/sheet and place it in the oven for 20 minutes to help warm the house up. And of course, hot coffee!
The motherly comfort food for me is Toast that mom used to like to use peanut butter on instead of butter when the toast was hot out of the toaster. The peanut butter always melted and somehow tasted better almost like a morning breakfast desert to me/her kids.

Yes, I remember my mom putting peanut butter on hot toast when I was a kid too, but more for an afternoon snack. Good times. 🙂
