The swiss even have the trees cataloged? Very organize people
Mugin16 · 46-50, M
@lilida We are very organised people. At least us German-speaking Swiss. With the latins you never know.... ;-)
lilida · 22-25, F
@Mugin16 Well we latins are also. We in Portugal manage to burn our forest every year.

According to a legend, the this tree was planted by the last survivors of the great pest pandemic - the famous black death - that hit the nearby village Linn in 1348/49. After the villagers buried their deads, they planted the tree. According to the legend, the tree will protect the village from the pest as long as it stands.
@Mugin16 Wow!!! Then it's no wonder that the tree is indeed sacred. 🙏 It does give happy vibes. 😃💞

I was thinking St Gallen as I read it...🤗
Mugin16 · 46-50, M
@Vivaci Well, it is almost impossible that the tree, which Gallus planted - if he actually planted one - is the one still standing. Its age is estimated at 800 years and not 1'400 years. But it is a beautiful legend.
@Mugin16 Hmm.... Beautiful legend nonetheless. 🌟💙☺️

I wonder how it feels to grow so many years alone there. What if it has a friend as companion and grow to that great age together?
Mugin16 · 46-50, M
@Sssslm There are some other trees near by as you see in the photos. Maybe the birds and squirrels who visit the tree are his friends? 😀

@Vivaci Linner Linde

Mugin16 · 46-50, M
@Vivaci It is located very close to the Habsburg, the ancestral castle of the famous dynasty of the same name.

It survived three fires in 1863, 1908 and 1979.
