I Love Trees

I love trees and it is breaking my heart to have to take down so many around my little house in the woods. Our state has been devasteted by the Emerald Ash Bore.

@samueltyler2 Yes, a lowly bug can bring down a majestic tree!!

@SweetMae are those similar to the beetles out west which used to be kept "in check," by severe cold. With climate change, it doesn't get cold enough for long enough to kill the beetles, that may be the root cause.

@samueltyler2 It gets cold enough here to kill anything! I have no idea.

@SweetMae not any more. I don't remember the temperature it needs to get to and for how long. It requires both.

@SweetMae but it has to be over time. The cold has to be persistent enough to get through the bark, etc., of the tree so it cam get to the burrows where the beetles insulate themselves.
