@ABCDEF7 120 Fahrenheit...🫠🫠🫠

@4meAndyou IKR? He lives in India.

@4meAndyou There are some places in India where temperature doesn't rise so much in summer. Many people go for vacations to such places in summer.

Even when the British were ruling India, they made two capitals, one for summer other for winters. I live near the capital that was suitable for them in winters.
4meAndyou · F
@ABCDEF7 I think I have read about that. It is cooler in the mountain areas, right?
ABCDEF7 · M
@4meAndyou Yes, J&K and Himachal Pradesh are preferable states to visit in summers as both have mountain areas. Few other local nearby areas around different parts of India also has mountains with a pleasant weather.

@ABCDEF7 I would probably go to the mountains and stay there...🤣🤣🤣. Right now it's 30 Fahrenheit here and I've opened the sliding door because my apartment is too hot...🤣🤣🤣

@4meAndyou I will shiver in this temperature, we are used to high temperatures. It's currently 31°C here, and I have not yet turned the ceiling fan at full speed in my room. But I think I will have to start using AC in coming month.
4meAndyou · F
@ABCDEF7 It is getting a tiny bit cold in here, I will admit. I love cool temperatures. If it could be 65 F all the time I would be SO happy!
ABCDEF7 · M
@4meAndyou Some people here also likes to live in this temperature. They use their AC units to maintain this temperature in their rooms, but I would be comfortable at 86 F.
4meAndyou · F
@ABCDEF7 Well, it sounds like your body is perfectly acclimated! Here, I have to deal with the ups and downs. It's always too hot in my apartment.
ABCDEF7 · M
@4meAndyou What makes your apartment feel hot, or is it you that considers it hot?
4meAndyou · F
@ABCDEF7 I live on the 4th floor. Several things contribute to the excessive heat. First, there is one heating vent with outlets in the bedroom and the living room, which runs off a central shaft from the basement.

The heat rises from every apartment below mine. If a person who lives below me decides she is too cold, the heat comes right up here. The controls for the heating units don't stop the heat. You can turn them to the off position, but the heaters still get very hot to the touch, and the blowers still come on.

Additionally, the laundry for my building is located almost directly below me on the first floor. ALL the dryers vent into the same heating shaft.

@4meAndyou It's very unfortunate. It seems you need a really good insulating solution. But I guess it must be very costly.

While purchasing this apartment, we mainly considered two things. All the rooms have balcony and widows on the south side of room, this ensures there is enough natural light in all rooms. Secondly it is not on the top floor of building, which endures it is not heated much in summers. I live in 8th floor and the building has total 9 floor. The floor above me stays hot during summer, and the flat in front of me doesn't have much natural lighting.

@ABCDEF7 It sounds as though you did some good planning before you bought your apartment.

Unfortunately, we just had the bad windows replaced in the bedrooms here, last year, and the net result is that the heat stays IN. The sliding door seals in the living room are broken, and you can see condensation between the two pieces of glass that normally insulate.

@4meAndyou Sometimes all things are not as we expected, and we need few modification to make it comfortable to live. Few solutions can be expensive, while we can also find some tweaks to good alternative. I hope you will find those. India runs on Jugaad.
4meAndyou · F
@ABCDEF7 I do, too, in a way...because I don't have much money! 😉 In four years, I will be better off, and I can buy a tension rod for my living room sliding doors and some room darkening curtains with ring slides. It will be a cheap way to cool the room.

@4meAndyou Best Wishes :)
