Massive rainstorm

We have a metal roof and the rain sounds crazy loud on top of it. Can't see across the street and water running every direction.
Going to be more flooding from this one. Fortunately for us we are at the top of a hill.

The problem with being on top of the hill is that you will be surrounded by a moat. The parts of town (Sumas and Lynden) on the hill adjacent to the US/Canadian border crossing stations, had to be evacuated using boats, and the towns were submerged.

While a significant number of levies failed, the good news is that the dams are holding.

It's weird having multiple National Guard helicopters flying over my house, feels apocalyptic.

The forecast calls for more daily rain for the next 8 days for the lower elevations and blizzard conditions with 1.5 to 3 feet in the extended Cascades range.

We're not out of the woods yet, and I'm concerned about land slides over the next few days.

My roof is multi-layer composite, so I don't get the noise, but turns out the multiple chimneys work like percussion tools under the heavy rain.
@Northwest hopefully no repeat of the 2014 Oso landslide in the near future

Hold that thought. Seattle Times seems to think that this remains an issue, in addition to potential issues in Mganolia.
@Northwest stay safe
Power was out all day today, about 12 hours, finally came back on. Good thing since the house was 17c. We were trying to think of a way to heat the birds without electricity.

The pineapple Express is delivering atmospheric rivers. I was in my truck around 5 pm and the rain thundered on its roof.
yeah....it's coming down hard...my city is in there too

That's great that you are on top of the hill. Stay warm and dry.
