So much variety in flowers, even just within one family such as orchids, they are indeed beautiful in a multitude of ways ... and they are too fleeting, having such a short window in which to appreciate them and the bees and butterflies visiting them each year
Where I am in a subtropical area the best part of winter is that camellias start blooming ... then when azaleas begin blooming in spring the camellias are still going for a little while and you get to enjoy both at the same time ... in contrast the forsythias seem to be finished blooming in a matter of days, blink and you will miss them

@Miram I didn't realize that in Chinese folklore azaleas and cuckoo birds are linked and identified by the same word ... it is a shame that something as beautiful as an azalea is associated with mourning and sorrow ... thank you for sharing this
