Good question! Can you keep a secret? In the corner of the basement I have a small sitting room where I watch TV. The lamp that lights the room (it's always on - 24 hrs a day) is in another corner - I deliberately let spiders alone (it's covered in cobwebs). One of my small enjoyments is smacking an indoor centipede not enough the kill it but to stun it. I then drop the still wiggling bugger on a web then watch a spider come over to inspect his lunch (they always wrap the bug up tightly first).
