I Looked Out The Front Window To See How Much Snow We Got And Saw A Cardinal In The Bird Feeder….

Made me happy that he found the feeder. Not many birds have been coming to it. I put food out about several days ago and it hadn’t been touched after 2 days. I made cornbread last night and will crumble up some and put it in with sunflower seeds, and add some peanuts and other nuts for them to eat.

I put some bird seed out and I discovered an empty bird feeder and a some mouse droppings in the feeder.
I guess I will be feeding the falcons this year.

@Adrift Try a pole feeder with a baffle. Keeps the mice and squirrels out.

@4meAndyou I am kind of enjoying the fence vists from the falcons, the mice weren't as much of a problem as they were the year before.

@Adrift They will keep ALL the other birds away, too.

@4meAndyou Come to think of it the pigeons don't seem to be a problem either.

@Adrift Falcons go after pigeons. There was a big problem with pigeons nesting on the ledges of 3 12-story dorm buildings at the university where I worked. They would foul up the ledges There were air conditioning units in every dorm room that faced out over those ledges which sometimes created a nasty odor that the A/C units pulled inside the rooms. It was against university policy to poison and kill the pigeons. So they decided to drill round holes in places on one side of the buildings for falcons to nest in and brought in falcons. In other words they let the falcons kill off the population of the pigeons.
