Dont alot of american houses not have insulation in the walls?

@GuyWithOpinions Yes many homes here are without adequate insulation, etc and especially on the Native American reservations. It's sad really.

@GuyWithOpinions The ones who live in houses that they can afford that has it. When I was young we lived in two wood frame houses with little insulation. My ex got some insulation and put it in the attic of the first house. The room felt warmer within 30 minutes. We had put wood stove in the living to help heat with to save some money on propane and even with that it was still chilly in other parts of the house. We had cheaper rent than most homes in the area and the homes were small but the price of filling up a propane tank and the rural electricity rates, and the price of gasoline to drive to town to grocery shop etc. took a big chunk out of our budget.

@cherokeepatti what i mean is most houses arent built to handle even a slight winter. How are they going to handle this cold blast?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@GuyWithOpinions well many of them are built to handle it if the renters or owners will heed the advice that is being given. Have to let the water drip or use heater tape on plumbing in some cases, if that is not possible shut off the water. My neighborhood has fireplaces in almost all of the homes here that can be put to use in case of a power outage.
