Kids’ safety matters, but so does common sense. Shutting everything down for minimal snow ignores the reality of working parents.

@Fertilization A lot of schools close because of heating problems.

@HootyTheNightOwl That’s exactly my concern. If teachers and even emergency responders are struggling to travel safely, it suggests the conditions are more serious than they appear. Decisions like this are usually about preventing avoidable risk, not ignoring families’ needs.

@Fertilization Bit that isn’t what happened.
The streets and roads were gritted and clear. Everybody rise was able to travel to work.
But because the schools closed I had to take unpaid time off work to family children.
