Very discouraged and depressed today.

It might seem like a small thing ,I suppose, but we got a whole lot of snow and I have no one here to help me.
The stupid city which I live in piled up the snow to the exit of my driveway so, if I want to get out I will have to shove a huge pile of snow in order to get out.
I've already been outside for a total of 2 hours with break and
my back's hurting.
It's slow going, I guess ,it might be silly to be upset about it.
It also reminds me that my husband and I always did this together now I have no one.

This is truly sad. No wonder you're upset and depressed. You have every right to be. I do hope you will write a letter to the city, so they can be more conscientious of those who are not able to shovel snow, are disabled, or too old. But this can be a challenge even for the young. That's just not right. I've had that happen to me, as well, and I just had to wait however long until it melted and got down far enough to where I could get out. And yes it does make it truly hard when you don't have your partner to help. Mine's been gone since 2005, so I do understand. Yes, it is sooo slow going and backbreaking. I really don't know how you managed it and here you still have more to contend with. I think I would have gone into the house after all that shoveling and had a good cry. That really is overwhelming when you don't feel up to it and there's so much of it. This would cause anyone to become frustrated and depressed. I'm surprised you still tackled it. I just don't want you to hurt yourself though. In the future, perhaps you could make plans with a friend or family member that is able, to automatically come and keep your driveway shoveled. That way it won't be so overwhelming for you. You will have planned in advance. But I believe it's imperative that you contact the city and make them aware of this. Obviously, the driver doesn't seem to care, and the city probably does not know he's doing this to people. Two hour shoveling snow seems impossible. I know I couldn't do it so I really feel for you. That would even be hard for me if I was 50 years old! What are these people thinking? Nothing, obviously! By no means is this a small issue. I do hope this is resolved immediately. If you don't want to write them, then call them, but at least let them know. This is unacceptable and you should never feel stupid or silly for addressing it. I'm so sorry this happened to you. I pray the next days will go much smoother and also into the future. Please don't hesitate to contact the city. We do pay taxes and you deserve the best. ~ Love and hugs ~ I hope you'll soak in the tub and not be too sore tomorrow. That one guy had a great idea... see if you can hire some local kids. They'd have this done in a jiffy! You could even put an ad in the paper. You might also try a moist heating pad on your back. That would really help I believe.

@LadyGrace I was told by people that lived here since the eighties that they always do it this way and it never changes so I don't know if writing to the city would even matter.
@Justmeraeagain

Then that's when you write to the mayor and if the mayor doesn't listen right to the state's attorney or the governor. Don't give up. It's time they changed. It could save someone from a heart attack or damage from falling. I wish you the best in this challenge. It would greatly help if you would get a petition signed around the neighborhood.

Sorry to hear. I think it’s which direction they plow. It looks like it’s towards your side. People on opposite side may be happier.
It’s hard to remove that snow mountain. Hope you can able to make room to drive out.
Be careful removing snow and please take care of your back. Last thing you want is to hurt your back.
Hope your neighbor helps you out.
If possible, invest in cordless/ electric snow blower or snow shovel with chute. It will be very useful.

@Nick1 I got most of it done, but I remembered my husband's friend Mark told me to ask him if I need anything, and so I just messaged him and am waiting to hear back if he can come plow out the rest of my driveway.

Wish I could help you.

@Sequoia51 Thank you that's nice

I am so sorry to hear this. I do understand it though. Towards the end of our time in Virginia my wife was handicapped and I had to do all the shoveling. ☹

Can you hire some local kids to help out?
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@fun4us2b it's not just me and I asked our local Facebook page about it and they say they do this every Year to everyone

@Justmeraeagain Maybe the folks on the FB can band together and grab someone's ear in Town Hall - the government "Works for Us" we pay them...at least for folks that need this basic consideration...I tell you, this makes me so angry....😡
