They Should Have Called Off School Today…The Roads Are Getting Slick And People Are Having Accidents…

Oklahoma City called it off today but for some reason the superintendent here did not. We’ve already got 3 inches of snow with more on the way. And there’s a middle school on fire with firefighters on the roof trying to put it out.

Sometimes you just have to take matters into your own hands and decide for yourself whether to send your kids to school that day.

At times we wonder if the national weather service is in collusion with non essential government workers. Other times it seems like the school district super overslept and didn’t wake until after the school busses were already rolling.

Here we don't rely on schools to shut down. Parents have enough common sense to say it's closed

Sometimes you have to wonder if people in charge have any common sense.

@exexec I think the superintendent is going to hear about this from disgruntled parents. Better to stay home & stay safe and have a make-up day on a Saturday than to risk safety and vehicle damages.

@Heartlander they can make them up on Saturdays like they did when we went to school. Also remote learning. They cut back on the snow days this year for some reason. They don’t have to make them up unless they go over the allotted amount each year.

They canceled everything here yesterday. 4" and falling

Oh my gosh! That is terrible! 😧

@Musicman I don’t know what turnips will do to my gut. Almost afraid to try but might have a couple bites.

@cherokeepatti Just be careful. We don't want you getting sick.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Musicman afraid that it might bloat me up

3 inches is nothing.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@MethDozer it is when half the people don’t know how to drive in it. Ray had someone slide into the back of his car this morning. The roads are slippery.

@wildbill83 Hills and inclines make it more treacherous. Ray had someone run into the back of his SUV yesterday morning, fortunately no damage. But anyway not everyone has experience driving in this weather. We might not get more than an inch of snow in many winters and some of it melts before the day is over. . Especially the younger drivers and some of the foreigners from other countries who may not have had driving experience before (have seen this around the university with Asians).

@cherokeepatti I live in mountains, everything is hills and inclines here. Experience isn't needed, just some frickin common sense. Instead of picking a low gear and keeping constant speed down a hill, people either ride their brakes or try to slow down halfway down one, oblivious to anyone behind them. And they get even more impatient than when road is dry, watched about 20-30 people running red lights on busy four way intersections earlier
