Lol! It's a running gag here that the minute the weather report says "snow", everyone races out to buy milk and tp. As if they're going to be trapped in their homes for a month! 😄

@AbbeyRhode They do that here and they’ll clean the shelves of certain staples, most of the canned soups, ramen noodles, frozen pizza, lunchmeat, milk, eggs, bread, chips, ice cream and other such things. We usually get ice more than deep snow and forecasts for ice will do it too. People will bring their little old mamas into Walmarts so they can get their groceries 3 days before the storm hits…they been around long enough to know the shelves will be bare if they wait till the last day.

@cherokeepatti At least you seem to get a fair amount of snow. If we get anything, it's a dusting to an inch.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@AbbeyRhode Mostly dusting here. But some years we’ll get a big dump of snow. It’s been a few years, the last one happened in a February. Shuts a lot of things down for a couple days. A foot and a half of snow has happened about 3 different times here that I remember, and it was in the past 36 years, we’ve had some smaller ones that were considered blizzards due to strong winds.

We haven't have snow yet either. Even though it was really cold last week. Didn't snow since it was just mostly cloudy. I'm guessing we could possibly get snow maybe a couple of times next year.

we haven't even had a whiff of snow here and none in the foreseeable future...gonna be in the low 50s tomorrow...but i'll take rain over snow any day

I LIVE as though I won't be able to get to the store for a month, all the time! I keep shelf stable milk and powdered milk on hand, and usually keep two to three loaves of bread in the freezer. I am almost ALWAYS ready!
And when we get snow here, we get lots! Lately I've seen December and January pass with very little snow...but we always have a whopper of a storm in February.

@cherokeepatti That's a good idea! I've never frozen milk before!
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou It would taste a lot better than powdered milk. I’ve heard that they put monosodium glutamate in it, which might explain why it has a bit of a bitter taste. I should be freezing buttermilk, it’s hard to finish an entire carton when I just need a couple cups.

@cherokeepatti I had to use the powdered milk for a couple of weeks when I ran out of money, and I can't really taste any bitterness. The only thing I've noticed is that it is a bit more watery than regular milk, and doesn't make my mouth sticky after I drink it.

Not here, We already having our 3rd blizzard this winter and its not officially winter yet. It's a blizzard right now 12 hours of snow today the weather man said for my area anywhere from 6 to 8 inches for us.
We never rush to the store before a storm of any kind. We're stocked up 24/7 and alway prepared for the worse
