Mine is on the top of a hill, no path or trail to get there. There is an old oak tree there that provides shade to an exhausted hiker. The exhaustion allows for all the senses to become aware; the sounds of nature, the colors you see, the smells of fresh fragrances, the feeling of the light breeze against the skin and the refreshing taste of cool water.

I don't think I have just one place. I think I find it anywhere I'm alone in nature. But if I had to pick one place it's the whole of High Point State Park where I spent so many of my summers growing up. There's always a piece of me there and every trip back is like coming home.
