How do they look?
We put them in on Sunday.
Annabelle hydrangeas in the back and Kansas peonies up front bordered by a row of begonias in the rear half and sun patients in the front half
I’m so sick of trying to figure out these beds…
Last year everything we planted was over powered by weeds and our bulbs rotted 😔
Well then I gave up and spread a bunch of zinnia seeds and 6 weeks in of lush green growth my landscaper weed wacked it all down to the dirt because he thought it was weeds since nothing had bloomed yet- if he had waited one more week all the flower buds would have opened up!
Anyways so we decided to go all in
My husband rented the soil turner and we dug up all the remaining roots added a way for water to properly drain went to the nursery and picked up some peonies, hydrangeas and some border annuals.
I’m thinking of getting 2 gardenia trees (in pots) to place in the back closest to the stairs on each side.
Thoughts?
(Id bring the gardenias inside in the fall and bring them back out during late spring/early summer)
I know I won’t see any blooms until next year but I’m still excited- we had to put a liner down and mulch because the tree in front of my house drops those spinning thingies and we start growing random weeds and branches all over the place.
I have left it mulch free around the base of the roots of both the hydrangeas and peonies (although it’s not visible in the picture) - so they don’t feel like they’re been buried deeply.
