@Amylynne That is awful, but except to create fire-breaks it is better to leave dead trees in place unless they are infectious to living ones in some way.
An equivalent here in the UK, ravaging many woods, is Ash Die-Back, a fungal infection. In this case the only control is to fell and remove them.

I hate to see that especially if homeowners wait several years to remove the tree after it’s died.

aphids are the biggest killer. And as with 90% of the most harmful invasive species in western countries, they originate from china...

Not likely to be lanternfly on evergreens. Some other problem. what kind of evergreens in particular, do you know?

@Rambler not really sure but it's many types from trees to hedges. You just drive around and you see them.

@sundazzled There are various pests and blights afflicting evergreens and shrubs. I don't know but my son would, he's in the business.I do know it wouldn't be lanternfly.
my little south side pine ... bush thing died a while back. I'm not sure what got to it. it used to get some really cool webs in the fall. I've heard there's lots of changing going on for plants all over.
