Desantis' 'Great Outdoor Initiative' plans to add hotels, golf courses and pickle ball courts to 9 Florida state parks

Because there's not enough of all that in Florida already.
He basically wants to make state parks Nature Resorts. With the emphasis on Resorts with the participation of private companies and business.
The everglades has already shrunk to 50% it's original size thanks to human involvment. I guess some people won't be happy until the ecological masterpiece that is Florida is nothing but condos, hotels and ashphalt.

That's very sad, especially when a politician cannot understand the value of public space. Are there not legal covenants protecting parks from private exploitation?
@SunshineGirl apparently there's bipartisan opposition to the plan. But it still may go through in a scaled down version.
