Not enough water out west where most of the farms are located. Lake Mead has run close to dry. Reduced by half. We will have to build desalinization plants soon...and the oceans will run dry.
The farms that ARE productive, in California, for example, are run by illegal cartels, and are stealing water and electricity to grow pot. They actually busted one such farm, because the cartel members were threatening local residents with firearms.
